A theme is a recurring musical idea, used throughout a song. It often represents a character or an event happening within the story of the music.

Beepbox is a simple online sequencing website that allows you to create chiptune video game compositions. It has a number of options which let you explore melody, composing with layering and loops, and musical form. You can save your compositions and then play them on your iPod or computer.

Before you begin composing your musical theme, please give some thought to your musical intentions by filling out your "program notes." Your classmates and teacher will want to be able to read this information before listening to your completed music and then provide feedback about whether your composing decisions ultimately matched your intentions.
